Are you Prepared?

FEMA recommends that individuals have at least 72 hours of supplies on hand as part of disaster preparedness.

Sachse CERT program educates the public about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as light search & rescue, disaster medical operations, team organization and fire safety. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT trained individuals learn to assist their family, neighbors and co-workers following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

Sachse CERT encourages citizens to take preparedness seriously in order to minimize loss of life and property in a disaster. If you have any questions please email info@sachsecert.org. The class is taught using the FEMA curriculum, but does not automatically make you part of an active response team. Graduates who live or work in Sachse, or surrounding communities are welcome to join a SCC sponsored team after completing an additional orientation session and background check.

The G-317 certificate is recognized in every state and municipality.

Both Saturdays are required for certification

CERT Class Fee $25 – this fee pays for disposable supplies, lunch on both days, and other costs for conducting the CERT G-317 class. The fee is refundable in case of cancelation up to 48 hours prior to the start of the class. No refunds for cancelations within 48 hours of the class or no-shows.

Minimum Age: 18 years of age, as of the first day of class, or 16 with parental consent and parental participation.
The course is open to adjacent cities, but Sachse residents will have first priority as the class fills.

Event Support

Sachse CERT provides support to city and community events through traffic control, weather monitoring, lost child booths, and minor first aid care.

Fire Rehab

Sachse CERT assists the Sachse Fire Department by providing heat mitigation, snacks, and other on scene tasks.

Wide Area Search

CERT members are trained in general search methods and have the opportunity to expand training for high priority groups such as missing elderly and children.

Disaster Response

CERT members are trained to respond to local disasters to assist local and federal agencies in the immediate aftermath of an event.

72 Hours

In the aftermath of a disaster it may be at least 72 hours before first responders make it to certain affected areas. Learn what you need to do to keep your family self sustained during situation such as power outages, severe weather, a shelter in place situation and how to recover if your family is uprooted by a disaster.
